Wheat Winter Cover Crop Forage Seed 50# Bag

This variety is a dual-purpose wheat for grazing and grain production, a soft, tillering red wheat. It is native to TN, not GMO, and is a cool-season, drought-tolerant, smooth or awnless/beardless wheat with an abundance of erect, basal leaves. The leaves are fine, flat, or rolled, narrow, pointed, and 5 to 12" long. Color varies from pale green to bluish. The stalks are erect, slender, and 1-3' tall. Flower heads are spikes that are more slender than the other wheatgrass, 5-8" long.

This species has superior forage value for grazing, cutting for hay, or growing in a pure stand. Soft wheatgrass produces excellent-quality forage for cattle, sheep, and horses. It also cures with high nutrient levels (protein) and is one of the better grasses for fall and winter grazing. Planting Rate: 100-120 lbs. per acre.
